2017 Lexus LC 500
With all the flashy cars driving around the streets of Los Angeles, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. Over the past two years, Lexus has put an emphasis on being anything but “boring”. The 2017 LC 500 certainly takes that pledge to a new level. If you’re looking for the hottest new luxury sports car on the road, you’re at the right place.
Interior & Design
Once thought to be nothing more than a concept car designed to make an impression at auto shows, Lexus has defied expectations and brought the LC to life. This sleek two-door coupe features a nearly all-glass roof, eye-catching spindle grille and athletic oversized wheels. New triple-LED headlights and L-shaped daytime running lights help to put off a stunning first impression. Inside, Lexus engineers strived for combining the feeling of a cockpit and elegance. A thick steering wheel, bucket seats and a low center of gravity make you feel like you’re driving a race car down the track. As the seats hug you while you accelerate down the road and maneuver through sharp turns, the premium, supple, hand-stitched leather assures you that you’re riding in ultra-luxury.
Technology & Safety Features
In the 2017 Lexus LC 500, a highly-functional touchscreen display and dial replace the Remote Touch Controller found in Lexus models of years past. The LC will also debut the new 2017 Lexus Multimedia package that includes faster, more flexible software and a cleaner graphical interface. A new premium Pioneer audio system comes standard, and Pioneer’s engineers worked with Lexus to ensure a cabin design that captures and enhances sound performance. The audio package can also be upgraded to the Mark Levinson system for the major audiophiles out there. When it comes to safety, the 2017 LC 500 is outfitted with the Lexus Safety System+, which is revered for its array of driver safety technologies including a Pre-Collision System, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Automatic High Beams.
Bearing the same engine as the acclaimed Lexus F Sport vehicles, the 2017 Lexus LC 500 will give you 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque from its high-revving 5.0-liter V8. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with magnesium alloy paddle shifters, helping to transfer power to the rear-wheel drive system. The transmission is matched to an electric control system, new for 2017, that helps to anticipate driver inputs by monitoring acceleration, braking and lateral g forces using innovative new software. The multilink suspension system uses double ball joints on the upper and lower arms to increase control and give the LC razor-sharp reflexes. After spending three times the normal amount of time on research and development than they normally do, Lexus engineers have found the sweet spot of road contact feel.
